iCalendar

With the «iCalendar» app you embed a shared calendar via its .ics link, e.g. from Google Calendar, Outlook or MS Exchange. Upcoming events appear on your screens in real time.

iCalendar is ideal for guest greetings, events and room bookings when you don't want to connect an account but simply insert a calendar link. Perfect for teams, schools and organisations.

• An active revolutionSCREEN account with access to my.rstv.app.
• A Google or Outlook calendar whose .ics link you are allowed to copy.
• At least one set-up Screen.

In the left sidebar click «Apps» and at the top «zum App-Store» (to the Appstore).

Scroll to the «Alle» (All) list and click the «iCalendar» tile. Use the category buttons to narrow down the list.

The app's detail view opens. If it isn't installed yet, first click «Installiere» (Install). Then click «Neue Instanz» (New instance). «App Guide» opens a quick guide.

Under «Apps › Meine Apps» (My apps) you see all instances of the app as tiles. Use «Neue Instanz» (New instance) at the top right to add another one, or click a tile to open an existing one.

In the editor, hover over the title and click the pencil to give the instance a name. A new instance shows «Kein Name angegeben» (No name given) in red until then. At the top right you choose whether the preview appears in portrait or landscape.

The URL must point directly to a shared .ics file, otherwise the instance cannot sync the calendar. Here's how to find the link:

Google Calendar: Open «Einstellungen» (settings) and under «Einstellungen für meine Kalender» (Settings for my calendars) select the desired calendar. Copy the link under «Öffentliche Adresse im iCal-Format» (Public address in iCal format) or «Privatadresse im iCal-Format» (Private address in iCal format).

Outlook: Open «Einstellungen» (settings), then «Kalender» (Calendar) → «Geteilte Kalender» (Shared calendars). Select the calendar, click «Freigeben» (Share) and copy the ICS link.

Paste the link into the «URL» field in the editor. The live preview then shows the calendar's events.

All settings are on the left; on the right the live preview immediately shows how the instance will look on the Screen. Use the arrow next to the card to collapse the settings.

Further down in the card come the toggles for description, time, location and event time.

• URL: the link to the shared .ics file of your calendar.
• Logo: choose your own logo via «Bilder» (Images).
• Layout: «Upcoming» lists all upcoming events, «Upcoming-2» shows them full-screen, «Today» today's events, «Week» a week overview, «Single» one event after another and «Next Event» the next event in each case.
• Primary / Secondary font: fonts for title and text.
• Language: language of dates and weekdays, e.g. «German».
• Title: heading, e.g. «Herzlich willkommen» (Welcome).
• Event start (in minutes): for «Next Event»: how many minutes before the start the event appears, e.g. 15.
• Scrollspeed: how fast a long event list scrolls, e.g. «None» or «Slow».
• Text colour / Line colour / Background colour: colours for text, separator lines and background. Use × to reset a colour.
• Background image: optional image via «Bilder» (Images).
• Description / Current time / Location / Time: show or hide the event's description, the current time, the location and the event time.

Save the instance at the top right with «Speichern & Schliessen» (Save & close).

Add to a Playlist: Open the Playlist, select the «Apps» tab on the right, click the app and then the instance. The instance is added immediately.

Add to a Layout: Open the Layout and click the pencil on the desired section.

In the «Inhalt für Abschnitt bearbeiten» (Edit content for section) window, add the instance with «Inhalt hinzufügen» (Add content). On the right of each element, set the schedule via «Täglich» (Daily).

Then click «Veröffentlichen» (Publish) in the Playlist or Layout. As long as it says «Entwurf, Veröffentlichung erforderlich» (Draft, publishing required) there, the Screen still shows the old state.
