Youtube

Youtube — plays a YouTube video on the screen – ideal for image films or product videos.

Purpose

Show a specific YouTube video on the display, optionally with sound and subtitles.

Use cases

Here's how Youtube looks on the screen – examples from the field:

Requirements

  • An active revolutionSCREEN account with access to my.rstv.app.
  • The URL of the YouTube video.
  • At least one configured screen for playback.

Install the app

Open my.rstv.app and go to Apps. In the Alle list, find the Youtube tile and click it.

The detail page opens. If the app is not yet installed, first click Installieren (install). Then (or if it already says Installiert) click Neue Instanz (new instance).

What is an instance?

An instance is a specific, configured output of the app – a stored video with its playback settings. You can create multiple instances and assign them to different screens.

Manage instances

After clicking, you land in the app's instance management. Here you see existing instances and create another one with Neue Instanz (new instance, top right).

Configure the instance

In the editor you set the video and configure sound/subtitles. The live preview runs on the right.

The settings in the left area – field by field:

  • Video: the YouTube video URL.
  • Audio: turn sound on/off.
  • Subtitles: show/hide subtitles.

Save & play on the screen

  1. Name the instance and configure it as desired.
  2. Save it at the top right with Speichern & Schliessen (save & close).
  3. The instance is now available under the app.
  4. Assign it to your screen – directly as content or embedded in a Layout or a Playlist.
  5. At the next sync the content appears on the display and updates automatically.

Tips & troubleshooting

Video doesn't load

Check the URL; the video must be public/not restricted.

No sound

Turn on Audio (screens often play muted).

Content doesn't appear

Check whether the instance is assigned to the correct screen/layout and the player is online.

Ads

For ad-free playback, choose a suitable video.
