Autostart with Amazon FireTV Stick
How to enable automatic start on FireOS 8 devices from Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Gen 2 (2023 model)
Amazon recently released its new Gen 2 Fire Sticks, which bring many changes, including the hardware and the operating system. While revolutionSCREEN runs excellently on these new devices, there is an issue where the autostart function does not work properly, likely due to the updated version of Fire OS.
In this guide we show you how to properly enable revolutionSCREEN for automatic start on these new Gen 2 Fire Sticks.
Before we begin, please make sure you have the following ready:
- A computer.
- Stable internet connection.
- Make sure both your computer and your Fire Stick are on the same network.
- Android SDK Platform Tools installed on your computer.

Step 1:
On your Fire Stick, navigate to the settings, then select "Mein Fire TV" (My Fire TV) and click on "Entwickleroptionen" (Developer options) and make sure ADB debugging is enabled.
Note: To enable the developer options, follow these steps:
- From your Fire Stick's home screen, go to "Einstellungen" (Settings).
- Select the option "Mein Fire TV" (My Fire TV) or "Gerät" (Device).
- Click on "Info".
- Click 7 times quickly on the first option where the model of your Fire TV Stick is shown. You will see a notification at the bottom saying "Nicht nötig, Sie sind bereits Entwickler" (Not needed, you are already a developer) when this is complete.
- Press the back button once or go back to "Einstellungen" (Settings) > "Mein Fire TV" (My Fire TV) and you will now see "Entwickleroptionen" (Developer options).
Step 2:
Exit the developer options, then select "Info" and then "Netzwerk" (Network). You will see the Fire Stick's network information. In this case, we need to note down the IP address:

On your computer you must have the Android SDK Platform Tools installed. You can install these by clicking the link further up in this guide. Make sure you create a folder somewhere on your computer, e.g. on your desktop, and extract the contents of the Android SDK Platform Tools into this folder:
Step 4:
On your desktop, open the command prompt. On Windows you can do this by typing "cmd" into the search bar of your taskbar. On Mac it is called Terminal.
Once you have opened this, type "cd \"
Then type "cd android"
Then type "dir":
Type "adb connect <The Firestick IP address from Step 2>"
If you received a message saying "failed to authenticate to <ip address>", you must allow access from your Firestick. Enable "Immer von diesem Computer zulassen" (Always allow from this computer) and press "OK". Then, in the command prompt, type "adb disconnect" and press Enter.
Type adb connect <Firestick IP address> again. After a successful connection it should look like this:
Step 5:
Once you are successfully connected, type this command and press Enter:
adb shell pm grant com.optisigns.player android.permission.SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW
This command will now be sent to your Firestick to allow revolutionSCREEN to enable its autostart function.
And that's it! You're done!
