RSS Feed
RSS Feed — displays headlines from any RSS feed (news, blog, weather) on the screen.
Purpose
Bring current news or blog entries to the display – the feed is reloaded automatically, either as a list of posts or as a ticker.
Use cases
This is how RSS Feed looks on the screen – examples from real use:
Requirements
- An active revolutionSCREEN account with access to my.rstv.app.
- The URL of an RSS feed.
- At least one configured screen for playout.
Install the app
Open my.rstv.app and go to Apps. In the Alle (All) list, find the RSS Feed tile and click it.

The detail page opens. If the app is not yet installed, first click Installieren (Install). Then (or if it already says Installiert / Installed) click Neue Instanz (New instance).

An instance is a specific, configured output of the app – a stored RSS feed with its display settings. You can create multiple instances and assign them to different screens.
Manage instances
After clicking, you land in the app's instance management. Here you see existing instances and create another one with Neue Instanz (New instance, top right).

Configure the instance
In the editor, enter the feed URL and set the layout and appearance. The live preview runs on the right – use Layout, colors and QR-Code to control the look. A few variants compared:
The settings in the left area – field by field:
- Feed URL: address of the RSS feed, e.g.
https://www.nzz.ch/schweiz.rss. - Layout: arrangement/template of the display (e.g. image left, text right).
- Logo: choose your own logo via Bilder (Images).
- Text / background color: colors of the board (color picker).
- Primary / secondary font: fonts for title and body text.
- Language: display language of the content.
- Posts: number of posts displayed.
- Duration (in seconds): display duration per post.
- Default image: fallback image when a post has no image of its own.
- Stretch image: scale the image to fill the format (toggle).
- Show QR Code: show/hide the QR-Code for the post.
- Ticker: scrolling text mode instead of a post list.

Display duration in Playlist & Layout
RSS Feed shows several posts in sequence per instance. When you add the instance to a Playlist or a Layout, you control how long it runs via the element duration. To do this, click the Dauer (duration) of the app element in the Playlist.
Note: This logic applies to all apps with multiple posts per instance.
In the Elementdauer bearbeiten (Edit element duration) dialog, the pro Post (per post) toggle decides between two variants:
Variant 1: pro Post = OFF (total duration)
The set time is the total duration of the instance. Example 00:01:40 (100 seconds): the instance is displayed for 100 seconds. The posts run through in sequence during this time and start over if needed – so depending on the time, not necessarily all posts (or some multiple times) are shown.

Variant 2: pro Post = ON (duration per post)
The set time applies per post. Example 00:00:10: each post is shown for exactly 10 seconds. With 12 posts, all 12 posts are shown for 10 seconds each (total duration 120 seconds). This ensures that every post really appears.

Every post should be sure to appear? Turn on pro Post (per post) and set the seconds per post. Fixed time constraint (e.g. for the timing of a Playlist)? Leave pro Post off and set the total duration.
Save & play on the screen
- Name the instance and configure it as desired.
- Save it via Speichern & Schliessen (Save & Close) at the top right.
- The instance is now available under the app.
- Assign it to your screen – directly as content or embedded in a Layout or a Playlist.
- At the next sync, the content appears on the display and updates automatically.
Tips & troubleshooting
No content
Check the Feed-URL (it must be a valid RSS/XML feed).
No image
Set a default image.
Hard to read
Ensure sufficient contrast between text and background color.
Content does not appear
Check that the instance is assigned to the correct screen/Layout and that the Player is online.
