Google Slides

With the «Google Slides» app you bring a presentation from Google Slides directly onto the screen. The slides run automatically one after another.

Design advertising campaigns, staff news or information as usual in Google Slides and show them on the display without exporting. The app acts as the interface between your design and your screens.

This is how Google Slides looks on the screen, examples from real use:

• An active revolutionSCREEN account with access to my.rstv.app.
• A Google account with access to the desired presentation.
• At least one configured screen.

In the sidebar on the left, click «Apps» and at the top click «zum App-Store» (to the Appstore).

Scroll to the «Alle» (All) list and click the «Google Slides» tile. Use the category buttons to narrow down the list.

The app's detail view opens. If it is not yet installed, first click «Installiere» (Install). Then click «Neue Instanz» (New instance). «App Guide» opens a quick guide.

Under «Apps › Meine Apps» (My Apps) you see all instances of the app as tiles. Use «Neue Instanz» (New instance) at the top right to create another one, and click a tile to open an existing one.

In the editor, hover over the title and click the pencil to give the instance a name. A new instance shows «Kein Name angegeben» (No name given) in red until then. At the top right you choose whether the preview appears in portrait or landscape format.

At the very top of the settings is «Zugang» (Access). There you connect the instance to your Google account. When the connection is active, it shows «logged in» and the connected account below it. Use the pencil next to it to change the connection. Via «Change slides» you select the presentation, its name is shown below.

On the left are all settings, on the right you immediately see in the live preview how the instance will look on the screen. Use the arrow next to the card to collapse the settings.

• Zugang (Access): the connected Google account.
• Change slides: select or switch the presentation to be shown.
• Dauer (in Sekunden) (Duration in seconds): display time per slide, e.g. 10.

Google Slides shows several items per instance one after another. When you use the instance in a Playlist or Layout, you define via the element duration how long it runs. To do so, click on the element's duration. This logic applies to all apps with multiple items per instance.

In the «Elementdauer bearbeiten!» (Edit element duration!) window, the toggle decides between two variants. It is usually called «pro Post» (per post), for presentations «pro Slide» (per slide). Use «Confirm» to apply the setting.

Variant 1: toggle OFF (total duration)
The set time applies to the whole instance. Example 00:01:00: the instance runs for one minute. The items switch in sequence during this time and start again from the beginning if needed. So not necessarily all items appear.

Variant 2: toggle ON (duration per item)
The set time applies to each item. Example 00:00:10 with 12 items: each item appears for exactly 10 seconds, the instance runs for 2 minutes in total. In the list, «pro Post» or «pro Slide» is then shown below the duration.

Save the instance at the top right with «Speichern & Schliessen» (Save & Close).

Add to a Playlist: Open the Playlist, select the «Apps» tab on the right, click the app and then the instance. The instance is added immediately.

Add to a Layout: Open the Layout and click the pencil at the desired section.

In the «Inhalt für Abschnitt bearbeiten» (Edit content for section) window, use «Inhalt hinzufügen» (Add content) to add the instance. On the right of each element you set the schedule via «Täglich» (Daily).

Then click «Veröffentlichen» (Publish) in the Playlist or Layout. As long as it shows «Entwurf, Veröffentlichung erforderlich» (Draft, publishing required), the screen still shows the old state.
